Newport Equities CEO Addresses Perry Village Council April 23 to Present Community Investment Package
PERRY VILLAGE, Ohio, April 23, 2026— Newport Equities, LLC CEO Mark Kerslake appeared before Perry Village Council tonight to present a community investment package tied to the proposed Perry Technology Park data center campus. If approved, the project would deliver nearly $380 million in total local revenue over its first 30 years — funding that would go directly to Perry schools, fire protection, parks and residents.
The package includes immediate cash payments to the community upon land closing, long-term property tax revenue for local institutions, and ongoing services provided free of charge to Perry Village residents.
Immediate Investments in Perry’s Community
Upon closing, Newport Equities would deliver more than $2.7 million directly to the community, including:
- Two refurbished Perry Fire District ambulances and life safety equipment ($500,000)
- Park improvements at Lydic Park ($275,000)
- Village beautification projects ($350,000)
- Township park improvements ($250,000)
- A new police cruiser ($75,000)
- Completion of the POW/MIA memorial ($40,000)
Perry Village residents would receive free trash collection for 15 years, free senior center memberships and free youth sports vouchers. The Perry Joint Fire District would receive an additional $2.4 million. A Village Community Fund of $720,000 would support ongoing local needs. Perry Center, the Band Boosters, Women’s League, Theater Guild, the PTA, and others would each receive dedicated long-term funding. Newport Equities is also in active discussions with Perry Local Schools on a separate PILOT program for the district.
Funding Perry’s Schools, Safety and Future
The project would generate more than $325 million in property tax revenue over 30 years from a site that currently sits unused. Perry Local Schools alone would receive an estimated $155 million. The Perry Joint Fire District would receive $38 million. Auburn JVSD would receive nearly $8 million with Lakeland Community College receiving over $15 million. The Metropolitan Park District would receive $14 million. Perry Village and Perry Township would each receive approximately $10 million.
The land sale would deliver more than $12 million to the Village, Township and Perry Joint Economic Development District this year. At full build-out, the project’s permanent operations would generate an annual payroll of $16 million, producing $320,000 per year in local payroll tax revenue — half of which flows directly to Perry Local Schools.
The Champion Farm site has been unused for years and generates zero tax revenue today. It was purchased by Perry Village and Perry Township specifically for economic development. This project turns a dormant asset into the most significant new public revenue source in Perry’s recent history to help ease the future tax burden on residents.
“This project will deliver the most significant new public revenue in Perry’s history — $155 million for Perry schools, $38 million for fire protection, and immediate investments in parks, safety, and residents’ daily lives. This vital new revenue source will ease the burden of future tax hikes on local residents and make a positive long-term impact on the local community,” said Newport Equities CEO Mark Kerslake.
About the Site
Perry Technology Park would be built on the former Champion Farm nursery — land acquired by Perry Village and Perry Township expressly for economic development. The land does not currently generate any tax revenue. The project aligns with the Village’s June 2025 zoning amendment establishing standards specifically for data center campuses, including defined requirements for height, lighting, sound, screening and landscaping at this location.
Perry Technology Park Project Website will be live on Friday, April 24
Province Group and Newport Equities are committed to an open dialogue with the Perry community throughout the development process. The project website, live Friday at www.PerryTechnologyPark.com, will serve as a resource for community members seeking information on the project’s design, environmental standards, and community investment commitments.
